My name is Remigius Gama. I am Tanzanian. Today, I am working at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) as a geologist. I started my studies in this university, then, during my last year of bachelor I learned there existed a partnership between the Geology Laboratory of UDSM and the University of Brest – Bretagne Occidentale in France. Ma professor put me in contact with a French professor. Following this, thanks to the collaboration of the French Embassy, I got a scholarship. This is how I managed to go to France for my Master degree and to learn French. I am now a PhD student in France, at the University of Brest-Bretagne Occidentale.
My experience in France allowed me, in addition to learning a new language, to increase my professional knowledge in structural geology and geophysics. Today, I apply all the skills I acquired in France to my work at UDSM.
If I was to give an advice to a person wishing to study in France, it would be to first learn some basic French and to really work on their language knowledge. I would recommend them to integrate themselves to the French, it makes life much easier.
