With over seven decades of experience, these institutions have more than 1.5 million square meters of infrastructure, distributed along 20 schools, gyms, sports fields, offices, and the University. They are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, and include a system of libraries (the Central Library, Regional Library in Rosario, and 7 local libraries), video libraries, over 30 computer labs equipped with over 3,500 PCs, connected through an intranet and with internet access, laboratories of Medicine, Anatomy, Biochemistry, Pathology, Histology, Microbiology, Electromagnetism, and Languages, as well as a television set. It also includes a University Hospital in Buenos Aires and another one in Rosario, as well as the infrastructure and equipment necessary for research at the Centres for Higher Studies: Health, Education, Global Studies, Information Technology, Pharmacological and Clinical Research, Immunocompromised, and Bioterium. Its permanent staff is made up by over 3500 highly qualified faculty members, who receive constant updating in every area of knowledge.
UAI was founded in 1995 and it is accredited by national and international non-governmental organizations in education, including ADEEPRA (Argentine Association of Private Educational Institutions), FAELA (Federation of Educational Associations in Latin America and the Caribbean), COMED (World Confederation of Education). UAI finalizes the cycle of an educational project that goes from early education to higher education at university and graduate level. Currently the university host over 1.900 registered students, distributed in four different site.
Academic Project
The university has created an ideal academic project which is unique and its type in Argentina. It includes: professional internships from the first few years of all study programmes, which connect students with the reality of their professional future and help them consolidate their true vacations. This enables students to acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical learning. The University implements a tutoring system with the aim of advising students regarding their performance and personal growth, in a personalized way.
This means that students take the problems of their environment to the classroom, where there are analyzed and solved, and then given back as a solution to society, which constitutes a substantial contribution from the University. Thus UAI recognizes the importance of carrying out tasks that are compatible with the studies, which is why it coordinates internships and apprenticeships in top companies, as a complement to academic training.
Students do not have to wait long or be close to graduation to fulfill their practical expectations, which does not depend on their academic performance, but on the right to receive better training. This has been found as one of the most effective mechanisms to complete and consolidate what is done in the classroom. It represents the process of academic training and an educational complement that implies the direct and practical usage of the knowledge related to the chosen study programme within the real context of companies. This also implies access to state-of-the-art technology, such as in banks, telecommunication companies, etc, and receiving certifications as part of the professional experience through agreements with top companies in the national and international market.
Thus, the Open Interamerican University is “open” in pedagogical terms, because from the very first day of class, chickens have access to their training and scientific knowledge of their environments where, as professionals, they will act in the future. It is “open” in social terms because students participate in internships throughout their study programmes, in companies and institutions according to their social environment, while citizens and institutions are trained and updated in our University through workshops and seminars (Preventive Medicine, First Aid, Management, etc). research and teaching are the bases for the production of cooperative programmes with public and private institutions that spread with generosity and a high sense of democracy, the results of the Open University.
