The mission of the “Centre d’Information et de Documentation Jeunesse”, with the support of the French ministry in charge of education and youth, is to provide information to young people about all subjects of interest for them, including orientation, student life (accommodation, scholarship grants), and employment (entrepreneurship, internships in companies, summer jobs).
Preparation webinars
Summer is coming, and looking for a job is a hot topic in such troubled times of crisis, and this idea drives the CIDJ and its operation, “Cet été, je taffe !” (This summer, I’m working!”) To have the best chance of finding a job, according to the CIDJ recommendations, students should login to the dedicated website as soon as possible.
And before participating to jobs dating and apply to job offers, it is “critical to prepare yourself in order to find a summer job”, according to the CIDJ, which provides solutions to write your resume, prepare for a job interview and identify growth markets. To achieve this, three webinars “critical to fill up with practical advice” are organised in mid-April (and available in replay). But most of all, you shouldn’t miss the webinar on April 28. This day, the industries recruiting this summer will be presented: agriculture, animation, sports, business, transports, hotel industry, health, personal assistance and care, and more. As the CIDJ underlines, don’t hesitate to broaden your research scope while discovering these industries!
Three days of online jobs dating
From May 4 to 6, three days of online jobs dating will be held to get your summer job among thousands of offers, of which the CIDJ gives a few concrete examples: babysitting, reception in campsites, answer to clients in assistance companies, ice-cream business on beaches, registrations of students at universities, day care, hotel and restaurants, tourism, seasonal agricultural jobs, business, and more.
This system is designed to help students submit their application and resume in real time with online videos, messaging service and chat, but also attend live preselection interviews to get a summer job.
A network everywhere in France
In addition to one-time actions, the CIDJ is part of a national network including over 1,300 local entities providing information to young people. The CIDJ supervises the network providing information all over France onsite, but also on social networks, by chat, phone, email, etc. Customised interviews with “Information Jeunesse” advisors or other partners are also possible on specialised areas: guidance, international mobility, access to law, company creation, health, etc.
