The new European project "HOPES" (Higher and Further Education Opportunities for Syrians) is implemented by a European consortium composed of the German DAAD (leader), French Campus France, British Council and Dutch EP-Nuffic.
This 43-months long action is financed by the "MADAD Fund", the EU regional trust fund. The project seeks to facilitate access to higher education for Syrian refugees in countries neighbouring Syria (Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey).
The project focuses on four objectives:
1. Guiding students and managing scholarship grants
- Creation of specifically dedicated desks in five target countries.
- Subsidy of 300+ scholarship grants to continue studies in the region.
2. Language preparation for students
- Language training to better prepare the students to the continuation of their higher education studies.
3. Call for projects for higher education institutions and structures in this region
- Subsidy of projects seeking to improve local training offers and capacities of institutions.
4. Political exchange and communication actions
- Design of communication tools and events for political exchange in the region.
