In the wake of the second wave of applications, Frédérique Vidal, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation announced 14 new projects selected by an international jury. The laureates come from various countries and will join the laboratories of the CNRS, IRD, CEA, IRSTEA, University Paris-Diderot, and IMT Mines Albi-Carmaux.
Following the decision of the United States to withdraw from the Paris Agreement, France issued a call in June 2017 to researchers, entrepreneurs, NGOs, and students to join France in the fight against global warming.
- The 14 laureates join the first 8 already announced by the French president at the One Planet Summit in December 2017.
- Several of them already started their work in French labs spear-heading the fight against climate change. The research projects selected will last from three to five years, and will benefit from national funding and support from labs and institutions hosting the candidates.
Germany also joined the Make Our Planet Great Again program, and selected 13 projects. Scientific support will thus be Franco-German, with supervision in France by the CNRS.
