Forum des images, Le Carreau du Temple, Centre Pompidou, Luminor Hôtel de Ville, Cité internationale des arts
Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin (International Paris/Berlin Meetings) is a major event dedicated to modern audiovisual creation. The event invites you to explore the new program in Paris from April 10 to 15, 2018.
Every day, the event will take you to different venues such as Forum des images, Carreau du Temple, Centre Pompidou, Cité internationale des arts, Luminor Hôtel de Ville.
In the presence of artists and filmmakers from all over the world, the 2018 edition offers a unique program: 120 works from 40 countries, internationally-acclaimed artists and directors, and young artists present for the first time.
Halfway between new cinema and modern art, this platform unique in Europe offers a rare openness on modern practices of moving image. With documentary approaches, experimental fictions, videos and hybrid forms, the program of the Rencontres Internationales is the result of a deep research work.
Highlights
This year, we have the pleasure to host in "cartes blanches" sessions:
- Austrian artist Valie Export (documenta Kassel, MoMA New York)
- Portuguese film director Pedro Costa (selected at Cannes 2006 with “Colossal Youth”, Best director award at the Locarno film festival in 2014)
- German filmmaker Heinz Emigholz (Berlinale, Viennale)
- Finnish artist Eija-Liisa Ahtila (Venice Biennale, Jeu de paume)
You can watch films in theatres -premieres, cartes blanches, special sessions, video focus-, but you can also join performances, round tables and a forum with art centres and museum directors, curators, artists and distributors, who will share their experience and thoughts on new audiovisual practices and their stakes.
The Rencontres Internationales are a great place for discovery and exchange with today's artists and filmmakers.
