The Ingénieuses Contest is open until March 8, 2019
Ingénieuses is the name of the contest open by the Conférence des directeurs des écoles françaises d’ingénieurs (Conference of Directors of French Engineering Schools, CDEFI) to boost the orientation of women to scientific and technological trainings and engineer careers. Indeed Ingénieuses is a pun meaning “smart” playing on the female version of “Engineer” in French.
The 9th edition of Ingénieuses has just been opened, and will close registrations on March 8, the International Women’s Day.
Even though engineer is a female occupation, the part of female engineers is still low, and that’s a concern for the CDEFI, that both implements promotion missions for trainings and occupations in engineering and actions to defend equality of opportunities.
That’s why as early as 2011, the Ingénieuse contest was designed as a communication action to “promote engineering among women”. This year, many partners chose to participate in the contest, such as the Francophonie University Association (AUF) and the associations Elles bougent, Femmes ingénieurs and Talents du numérique.
The following can apply to the various awards:
- any licensed engineering school wanting to present a project fostering gender diversity in engineering trainings;
- any engineer student in training in France, to compete for the award of élève-ingénieure France, i.e. the student whose career, ambition or associative action can be taken as examples.
- any engineer student in training in a engineering school member of the AUF in Northern Africa country, to compete for the award of élève ingénieure Maghreb;
- active female engineers are invited to present their application to the femme ingénieure award to value their professional career.
An expert jury will act in April to select projects from nominees (female or male) in each category. Female and male laureates will receive their award during a ceremony held in May.
