The Paris International Agricultural Show: 10 Days to Discover the Wonders of French Agriculture
From February 22 to March 1, the biggest farm in France will be in Paris! The Paris International Agricultural Show is open every day from 9am to 7pm at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. Discover the wonders of French agriculture, and learn about the latest agricultural research and available training in the field.
The Agricultural Show was held for the first time in 1964, and has become a true French institution, bringing together a thousand exhibitors. Every region is represented along with its specialties, from pots of Alpilles honey to Charolais cows, grands crus from Champagne and truffle foie gras from Périgord. The show features authentic French specialties as well as international agricultural products.
A delicious assortment OF TREATS AND A PATH OF DISCOVERY
A "concentré de gourmandises". That's the slogan used on the official website to express the most entertaining aspect of the show: sampling (in moderation) the hundreds of products exhibited there. Besides (or in addition to) these gourmet pleasures, the Agricultural Show offers a variety of activities for all attendees, including demonstrations, contests, prizes, seminars and conferences. The show is organized into four big "worlds" (crop and plant sectors, agricultural services and professions, livestock production and its sectors, and regional products from France and around the world) to help attendees discover the various aspects of agriculture, from careers to production.
THOUSANDS OF JOBS IN THE SECTOR
Every year, over 50,000 permanent full-time jobs become available in the agricultural sector. That's why an employment and training area, Agri'recrute, is also part of the show. Agri'recrute is staffed by a dozen different institutions and professional groups whose goal is to offer training and promote jobs in agriculture.
INRAE AT THE AGRICULTURAL SHOW
Agricultural research isn't neglected either. For the first time this year, INRAE (the National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food and the Environment) will be participating at the show. Through discovery workshops and discussions, over 300 researchers from all disciplines will present their solutions to address the current challenges our world is facing: food supply, reducing the environmental footprint of food production, and fighting climate change.
SUCCESS IN THE VINEYARDS
Every year, graduates make their dreams come true in France's agricultural sector. Discover the story of Hariyo, an Indonesian student who studied viticulture and oenology in Beaune (Côte-d’Or) and is now a winemaker and manager of a family winery in Burgundy.
