Overview
The Institut de Touraine is a private higher education institution. The school was founded in 1912. It welcomes each year 2500 foreign students and over 100 teachers of French as a foreign language, for language courses or for a teachers training. Since 2007 the Institut de Touraine has obtained the quality label FLE (French as a Foreign Language). The school proposes various types of French courses, according to the students' objectives: intensive course, standard course, discovery cours (French and cultural activities), exam preparation for DELF B1 and B2; Weekly starting dates except for complete beginners . Since 2008, the Institut de Touraine proposes personal guidance to the students, to help them progress and overcome difficulties which may occur during their studies: pedagogical tutoring, workshops after class, guided activities in the media center etc . There are 10 to 15 students per class in order to facilitate interactions during the course. The programs are based upon the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The Institut de Touraine is a certified examination center for the DELF and DALF. The school is situated in the town center, 200 meters away from Tours' medieval district and from the main shopping avenue. Tours has a population of 300.000 amongst which 30.000 students are in higher education. Tours is the capital city of Touraine. It is located in the Loire Valley, a region famous for its historical heritage and its scenic rivers. The region is listed as a World heritage site by UNESCO: Les Chateaux de la Loire. It is one hour away from Paris by high speed train (TGV). The Institut de Touraine offers numerous services in addition to its programs: media center, extracurricular activities, excursions, accommodation booking (homestay, residences), assistance for visas, insurances, etc
