Deeply rooted in the Nord-Pas-de Calais region for more than four hundred years, Lille 1 is continually raising its international profile through research and teaching instruction. With an enrollment of 20,000 students, including 20% foreign students, and a faculty and staff of 2,700, Lille 1 is also France's leader in continuing education. Lille 1 has arranged numerous international partnerships to foster joint research, joint thesis direction, and student exchanges leading to dual degrees. University Lille 1 is now part of the European program Erasmus Mundus Action 2.
