Overview
The Université Lumière Lyon 2 was organized in 1973 from the old Université de Lyon (1896). It is a university for Language Arts-Humanities and Social Sciences (LL-SHS) whose degrees are structured around 4 main areas :
- Arts, Humanities, Languages
- Humanities and Social Sciences
- Law, Economics, Management
- Science, Technology and Health. Enrollment in 2012, 26,900 students, 17% of whom were international students from 129 countries. The university has two campuses: Berges du Rhône, a historic site in the center of Lyon, on the left bank of the Rhône river; Porte des Alpes, at the southeastern edge of the city in the Bron et Saint-Priest district.
