The French law n°2014-1170, called “loi d’avenir pour l’agriculture, l’alimentation et la forêt” of 13 October 2014, established the French Institute for Agricultural, Forestry, and Veterinary Sciences (Agreenium) in order to create guidelines for the future of agriculture, food, and forestry. The decree of 30 March 2015 specifies the execution of the law.

The purpose of Agreeniumis to achieve synergy between higher education and research in the agricultural, veterinary, forestry, and landscape sectors in order to raise its visibility at the international level.

Agreenium is a French public cooperation Institute attached to both the French Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Higher Education. The Instituterepresents 14 higher education institutions and four research institutes.
