Since 2005, the Valenciennes School of Fine Art and Design offers a unique education, in two majors options, Fine Art and Design, anchored in the field of contemporary visual art. The studies are part of higher education, placed under the control of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, and are dedicated to the creative professions, multiplied by todays cultural industries. The Valenciennes School of Fine Art and Design is open to professional activity of contemporary art and design fields and provides students various opportunities of meeting and direct experience in France and abroad. Its teachers and contributors are mainly actives professionals in their field. The Valenciennes School of Fine Art and Design is located in the former building of Usinor-Salicor company. Consisting of over 5000m², the building is contemporary and functional, specifically designed for the needs of art students. The school has a first-class amphitheater, an exhibition gallery, a library and a cafeteria as well as spaces that emphasize neutrality as is the case for technical ateliers, classrooms, hanging rooms, administration and meeting rooms.
