The EU celebrates Climate Diplomacy Day in Australia
17 juin 2015
These events are brought to you by the Delegation of the European Union in Australia, with the support of the Embassies of several Member States including France. They will all be organised as follows:
Screening of the documentary “The Climate Blueprint” (52 minutes), directed by Ruth Chao & Fran X. Rodriguez (watch the trailer).
Followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A. The panel will include scientists, local and European Union government representatives, as well as business and NGO representatives.
The 21st Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP21), which will be held in Paris between 30 November and 11 December 2015 has been at the forefront of the news. With 40,000 delegates expected to take part, COP21 is one of the largest climate conferences ever organised. The stakes are high: the aim is to reach, for the first time, a universal, legally binding agreement that will enable us to combat climate change effectively and boost the transition towards resilient, low-carbon societies and economies.
But what happens during a COP? What are the consequences of climate change? What initiatives are already being taken, in Australia and Europe, to fight against this phenomenon? These are the questions that the European Climate Diplomacy Day proposes to tackle during these events.
Additional information about each event will soon be available on our website.
