Q - Hello Anisha, can you please introduce yourself?

A -  Sure, I am Anisha Bali, currently working as a Director at Deloitte Consulting in India. I belong to Chandigarh where I did my schooling, then went to  Delhi University for my undergraduate studies. After that, I pursued my post-graduation at HEC Paris, which was an amazing experience that significantly shaped my career and personality.

Q - Can you tell us more about your current role at Deloitte Consulting?

A - Certainly. Since joining consulting in 2013, I've been working on setting up Global Capability Centers, primarily in India. I help clients from various regions like Europe, the UK, the US and APAC to establish their operations in India. My role involves deciding what functions to bring in and creating successful operating models. It is a client-facing role that requires extensive travel and interaction with clients to ensure their success.

Q - How has studying in France benefited you professionally and personally?

A - Studying in France helped me build a strong network, which has been invaluable in my career. The rigorous education system also prepared me well for professional challenges. My CV stands out because of my international education and it often helps me connect with clients easily who have studied in France or some university in Europe that most of them have.

Q - What skills or experiences from your time in France have helped you in your current role?

A - The network I built during my time in France has been a significant asset. Additionally, the experience of studying and living in a diverse and rigorous environment has equipped me with adaptability and a broader perspective, which are crucial in my consulting role. It also helps in building rapport with international clients who recognize the value of my international exposure.

Q - What motivated you to choose France for your higher studies?

A -  I was clear that I wanted to do my post-graduation in Europe. HEC  Paris caught my eye because of its well-designed, hands-on course. The  18-month program allowed me to gain general management skills, then take a gap year work for an year and then return to do the specialization. It was the gold standard for me and I worked hard to get in.

Q - What advice would you give to a student planning to study abroad, particularly in France?

A - I highly recommend it, but it is also important to go for the right reasons. You need to know why you want to study abroad and how it aligns with your goals. The exposure and opportunities are immense, but you should be prepared and clear about your objectives. The decision should be well-researched.
