French Festival at Science Week

Every year, the French Embassy in Ireland supports many outreach projects for Science Week and 2019 will be no exception.
We have partnered with the Alliance Française Dublin and prepared a programme just for you: the French Festival at Science Week!

Programme

Monday 11th November
 6:30 pm: Earth from the Moon - a first glance into relativity
A hands-on workshop with Dr. Estelle Blanquet, Researcher/ Associate Professor in Science Education at University de Bordeaux for children from 10 years old. This workshop in French will feature an interactive scientific inquiry about the Earth-Moon relationship, challenging many classic misconceptions. Participants will use both their own bodies and spheres to model the Earth-Moon system and discover that the description of the movement of an object depends on where it is observed, or in other words, on the observer’s "frame of reference".

Tuesday 12th November
 6:30 pm: Apéro Scientifique - Vaccines & Antibiotics
Join us Chez Max for an exciting discussion in French about science and society with the help of a panel of expert moderators! For this last 2019 edition, we will talk about vaccines and antibiotics... while enjoying a cup of wine!
