Inauguration of "La Tartine" factory: the arrival of French baguette and pastries on the Palestinian market
The Consul General of France, Pierre Cochard, as well as Hanan Ashrawi, member of the executive committee of the PLO, inaugurated the factory "La Tartine" on June 9, in the presence of the Mayor of Birzeit.
The project, which benefits from the French Grant (French Donation Protocol benefiting the Palestinian private sector), will allow Palestinians to discover and consume, among others, French baguettes and pastries.
It will also support the training of Palestinian bakers, thanks in particular to the supply of equipment and know-how by the French company "Caplain Machines", leader of equipment bakers. In the short term, the launch of "La Tartine" will create a dozen jobs in the West Bank.
Like the "La Tartine" project, the French Grant Protocol gives to Palestinian companies the opportunity to buy quality French equipment with a reduced investment and enable them to offer quality products in the Palestinian market while being competitive.
Since 2010, the implementation of the 20 million euro French Grant Protocol has resulted in the completion of nearly 40 projects and the creation of nearly a thousand jobs in Palestine.
