Goût de France / Good France event on 21 March 2016 - A unique opportunity to enjoy and share the taste of France!
“Talking about cuisine, French cuisine, is also talking about joie de vivre, delicacy, optimism, and pleasure. Ideas that are all crucial to the image of France.” — Celebrated Chef Alain Ducasse
Following the accolades garnered worldwide, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development decided to make “Goût de France/Good France” an annual event to be held on the spring equinox. Thus, the second edition will be celebrated on Monday 21st March 2016.
It may be recalled, the event received great success in spring 2015, with more than 1,000 restaurants participating across the world.
India, ranked among the top five participating countries thanks to the involvement of dozens of restaurants countrywide, contributed to the success of the initiative, which was marked by strong participation and talented chefs.
The idea – simplicity itself – remains the same: similar to last year, over 1,000 chefs across 5 continents – selected by a committee of international chefs – are expected to join the event in which they will dish up, at the same time, a menu featuring gourmet French cuisine, making it a must-attend international culinary event.
This initiative was launched by the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, H.E. Mr Laurent Fabius, under the aegis of Chef Alain Ducasse. It aims, over the space of a one-of-a-kind dinner, to salute the excellence of French cuisine, its innovative skills, its openness to influences from all over the world, and the values that it conveys: bringing people together over a shared meal, the pleasure of taste, and the balance between human beings and the products of nature.
In 1912, Auguste Escoffier started Les Dîners d’Épicure (Epicurean Diners): the idea was that for one day, one menu would be served in cities around the world, to as many guests as possible. In 2015, the first edition of Goût de / Good France took the idea further, inviting many different types of restaurants to participate in the global event: bistro, coffee bar, contemporary or haute cuisine restaurants… Spoiled for choice, gourmet diners were able to pick their preferred ambience.
The second edition of this international event will once again demonstrate why French cuisine was recently listed in the UNESCO “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity” category. Traditional French cuisine is incorporated into the 21st century culinary scene, so that participating chefs are encouraged to blend rather than efface their own culinary culture with that of France.
All details on this event are available in the enclosed document and on the website.
We will be delighted to have you amongst us again for this event celebrating the excellence of French gastronomy.
During the Goût de/Good France event, an international communication plan will be made available to participating chefs to promote their dishes and their savoir-faire all over the world, with active support from French Embassies, Atout France and media partners France Media Monde and TV5 Monde .
