Paris Peace Forum 2022: Riding out the multicrisis (11-12 November 2022)

What is the Paris Peace Forum?
Founded on the idea that international cooperation is key to overcoming global challenges and ensuring lasting peace, the Paris Peace Forum’s mission is to bring together all actors in global governance – Heads of State and Government, international organizations, local governments, NGOs, foundations, businesses, the media, trade unions, religious groups and citizens – so that every year they are able to engage in dialogue under one roof.
Every year since 2018, the Paris Peace Forum has highlighted governance projects and initiatives that propose specific solutions and actions in the face of global challenges. These solutions are characterized by their international and multi-stakeholder dimension and their ability to bring about lasting change within global governance.

A 5th edition based on the major challenges of today

The fight against global warming, efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and strengthen health systems, economic cooperation and the joint management of global public goods had already been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since Russia’s attack on Ukraine, much of the world has also been affected by the consequences of this war: a humanitarian crisis, higher inflation and energy prices, growing food insecurity and major economic and political disruption.

 
The 5th edition of the Paris Peace Forum will focus on the theme of “Riding out the multicrisis” and on preventing a destructive world polarization that would jeopardize collective efforts. On 11-12 November 2022, the participating speakers and experts will work on mitigating these multiple shocks by fostering a cooperative world order and renewed multilateralism. Through transnational solutions, initiatives and debates, the Forum will put forward examples of resolve, resilience and solidarity. This will help address today’s most pressing issues in a volatile and fast-changing context.

Given the far-reaching, combined effects of crises around the world on populations and global cooperation, the programme will focus on the following priorities:

• Managing the fallout of the multicrisis on populations;
• Cooperating through conflicts;
• Rethinking globalization in a polarized world;
• Directing global cooperation towards greener, more sustainable societies;
• Ensuring a safer and ethical digital world;
• Fostering more inclusive and just societies.

The 2022 Paris Peace Forum will convene representatives of States, international organizations, businesses, development banks, foundations and NGOs from around the world, coming together to turn solutions into concrete actions. The participants will include Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic, Nadia Murad, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Youssou N’Dour, artist and former Minister of Culture of Senegal, Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO and Brad Smith, President of Microsoft.
