Bergen Assembly, "Actually the Dead Are Not Dead"

The French artists Eloïse Bonneviot and Curnier Jardin are two of the 100 artists participating in the 2019 edition of this three-yearly event of contemporary art, starting on September 5th. Over the course of two months, an exhibition and several events will be organised throughout the city.


Eloïse Bonneviot studies obsessional relationships to objects and the manner in which they trigger protocols, behavioural mechanisms and rituals. In particular, she studies the manifestation of this connection in this period of ecological and political crisis. She involves her audience in experiments which she designs on the occurence of said protocoles.

Pauline Curnier Jardin's work meets film, setting, performance and drawing at the same time. Inspired by poet, writer and artist Jean Genet, and working on collaboration with the historian of art Marguerite Vappereau, she is now writing her first feature film.

The Bergen Assembly will be held from 5th September until the 10th of November all around Bergen. Free entry.
