Movie-debate evening: More water, a challenge of the 21st century

In collaboration with Cinemateket i Oslo, Institut français de Norvège proposes a debate on the theme of water, as part of the Night of Ideas 2023. At a time when the whole world is concerned by droughts, the supply of drinking water is one of the main concerns of the planet. Inspired by Antoine Boutet’s film South to North, this debate will raise the question of water scarcity and its socio-environmental consequences. 

SPEAKERS:

* Antoine Boutet, French artist and awarded documentary director, among which South to North (original title: "Sud Eau Nord Déplacer")

* Nils Vidar Rystad, Assistant project director of the “new water supply Oslo” project at the Norwegian Water & Wastewater Agency, Oslo municipality

* Dr Sindre Langaas, Research manager for the section Water & Society at NIVA (Norwegian Institute for Water Research)

This debate will be moderated by Yeliz Yilmaz, researcher at the University of Oslo (UiO).

Want to know more? "Night of Ideas" consists of a series of public events, organized by Instituts français all over the world to celebrate the free movement of ideas and knowledge. For its 2023 edition, the French Institute of Norway has chosen “water” as its theme.
