Overview

ENTPE is a reputed French Graduate, post-graduate and Research Institute of Higher Education. As a state funded engineering school within the Ministry of Environment, Energy and the Sea, the ENTPE is a funding member of the Université de Lyon. It trains engineers and PhDs in the fields of sustainable civil engineering, building sciences, transports and mobility, territorial planning and public policy, since 1953.

ENTPE has been continually accredited to deliver the much acclaimed engineering master degree (MSc degree) by the French National Accreditation Board (www.cti-commission.fr) since 1972 and is a member of the Conference of Graduate Schools (www.cge.asso.fr).

ENTPE offers a wide range of high quality courses (masters, PhDs) within the field of sustainable planning: green building, civil engineering and construction, transport engineering, environmental engineering, urban planning and policies, risk management, pollution et nuisances and double degree programs : engineer-architect, engineer and policies, engineer-planner...

Engineering students are mainly recruited through a nationwide competitive examination. Through its 45 international agreements ENTPE welcomes 15% international incoming students. Admission is also available through certain university routes.

ENTPE trains around 85 PhDs enrolled in 10 Doctoral Schools in the fields of engineering sciences, social sciences and environmental sciences. It offers PhDs in mechanics, civil engineering and acoustics and environmental and  Social Sciences.  Research is organised through 5 joint research centres (CNRS, IFSTTAR, INRA, Universities and other like-minded institutions within the Université de Lyon).

Situated in Greater Lyon, ENTPE was founded in 1954 and can be found on the Vaulx-en-Velin campus. Twenty minutes from the historical center of Lyon (UNESCO world heritage site) and 2 hours from Paris, ENTPE offers a wide range of sports facilities (including a swimming pool tennis courts and multifunctional gymnasium) and cultural events (theatre, student societies etc.). The Region is well known as a safe attractive destination.
