[Alumni of the Month / February 2023] Ayush Gupta
A Masters in Management made Ayush iterate his 80 year old Indian family business and he founded his own brand ‘Tassyam Organics’.
Q: What led you to choose France as your study destination?
A: I visited France in 2004 as a tourist. When I was looking at my choices for Masters, I knew France had to be one of them. Luckily, I was awarded a scholarship by ESCP and later the Charpak Scholarship as well. So it was a no-brainer for me!
Q: What was your experience like in France?
A: If there is one thing I would like to highlight, it’s the ability to engage in many activities besides studying. For me, I was a part of the Boxing club, a hiking group, a cycling group and even took up Squash. All these activities helped me travel and I made many connections on the way. Thanks to the course structure of ESCP, I got to take a year gap to do some internships and gain some work experience at Pfizer in Paris and Amadeus in Nice, then spend two semester at their Madrid campus and then do an exchange at WHU Vallendar in Germany (where I was awarded the ERASMUS scholarship also) . In the end, these are the things that greatly influence your journey as an international student.
Q: What will be your advice to a student who wants to come to France for their higher studies?
A: You don't always have to look for a job! An experience like mine, for example, helped me create something of my own and thanks to the diverse network and the encouragement I received from my professors, I had to give it a shot. In fact, the idea of Tassyam came to me during my final year as a classroom project!
Q: What is ‘Tassyam Organics’ ? How do you relate it to the idea of sustainability and clean farming?
A: Tassyam, took shape in 2016 as a result of love for bringing authentic food products to your table using modern technologies while keeping their traditional roots intact. We wanted to create a brand which is a one-stop shop for all things healthy and nutritious, and where quality is never compromised.
Q: What do you expect from the France Alumni network in India?
A: Any excuse to go back and experience a part of that life in France is what this network stands for! I will be happy to see the possibility of working with the French Embassy in India on collaborative projects. Even outside of Tassyam, I would love to promote France and the French education system among prospective students.
Tassyam Organics has been listed as one of the top 25 emerging brands in India in the Food & Beverage category by LBB. The French Institute in India and the Embassy of France in India are happy to collaborate with Ayush and Tassyam to showcase their products during the Night of Chefs & Ideas on March 1, 2023 at Sunder Nursery in New Delhi.
