Throughout the history of space exploration, the conspicuous underrepresentation of women has been a prevalent issue. This concerning lack of female participation in the field, is a sincere concern for Nikhitha Chadde, the co-founder of SSERD (the Society for Space Education, Research and Development) and an Indo-French Alumna. Consequently, Nikhitha Chadde has embarked on a dedicated journey to diminish the gender inequality in this domain. This journey can only be taken forward by young women who choose to pursue STEM disciplines, with a particular emphasis on space-related fields.

In line with her commitment, an inspiring initiative "Girls in Space Mentorship Program - Cohort 4" has been launched. This program is designed to motivate and guide young women who aspire to make their mark in the field of space exploration. Its primary objective is to raise awareness among both students and parents, highlighting the abundant promising opportunities that the field of space exploration offers for girls to explore.

The 'Girls in Space Mentorship Program - Cohort 4':

The program has been launched by Society for Space Education, Research and Development (SSERD), in collaboration with Genex Space and several supporting organizations. This program aims to offer career exploration and hands-on experiences for high school students up to undergraduates. By participating in this program, students not only gain access to inspiring role models but also receive personalized career guidance to help them reach for the stars in the realm of space exploration.

Program Highlights:

  • Hybrid (online/offline) format to accommodate students worldwide.
  • Comprehensive curriculum covering Astronomy, Aeronautics, Rocketry, Satellites, Space Careers, and Entrepreneurship.
  • Field trip to a space-related location in Bangalore.
  • Sky-gazing night, allowing students to use telescopes to explore the cosmos.
  • Certificates of participation, gifts, goodies, and discount coupons for DIY Space kits upon program completion.
