Louis Vuitton: leather goods, a prestigious French know-how

louisvuitton11-03_14068nb_400Louis Vuitton makes his handicraft creations shine throughout the world. As a produce of unique and centuries-long know-how, French leather handicraft illustrates the interest for high quality crafting.

From the workshops in Auvergne to a name synonym of luxury

13 Louis Vuitton workshops are located in France. The turnover of this luxury leather goods company created in 1854 is estimated at 7 billion euros. The margin generated by the French company, a branch of LVMH, accounts for half of the group's profits.

In Saint-Pourçain-sur-Sioule, the leather company now owns three production units employing 600 people. The small wine village produces many different products for the world-famous Paris brand. From the cult purse to the classic suitcase and cards holder, the unit in Auvergne is now indispensable. Employees are trained there to the "house" demands with a dedicated training course as part of the Ecole des savoir-faire owned by Louis Vuitton.
Once they are finished, the products are sent to the Louis Vuitton centre in Cergy-Pontoise (Paris region) that will distribute them in thousands of sales points throughout the world. Main destinations are: Japan, Asia-Pacific, United States, Europe and others.

"French elegance": the passion for leather reinvented

As a product of a centuries-long know-how, French leather goods handicraft is a safe bet and is renowned for its high quality products. Louis Vuitton is a brand that's part of the prestigious image of French luxury throughout the world.

Born two centuries ago and now a proper fashion accessory, the purse is part of a growing number of collections every season, and the French spirit is efficiently represented. Elegance à la française in purses comes from a subtle balance of timeless style with good manners and high-quality and sturdy finishes. The hand-sewn style - an exclusive teaching from Paris institution Grégoire Ferrandi - is part of it. Highly regular stitches pass through the leather and give this unique traditional aspect, highly sought by major luxury brands.

The reputation of this French know-how is international. Tradition and innovation get together for a product even more valued by the noble materials that compose it. Louis Vuitton has recently installed a centre for innovation and research in leather good crafting in Angers, close to its counterpart Longchamp.
