Cedric Villani, a French mathematician, deputy and Fields medal winner came to Singapore for the Artificial Intelligence Workshop held on the 18th of June. Mr Villani talked about his recently published report titled "For a Meaningful Artificial Intelligence - Towards a French and European Strategy". In this report he mentioned that we should open data to all, promote research, allocate a private cloud to the AI, increase the number of women in the sector but also the utility of AI in health as well as ethical safety.
He also compared the different specialities of IA and how they can help to develop many areas such as health with the improvement of diagnosis, surgery robots, precision medicine, drug research or connected health; environmental field can also be concerned with the optimization of energy. IA also could solve replicability issues.
A lot of experts from various institutes as CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research) or NUS were there to interact, share their views on Artificial Intelligence and present projects they’re working on.
