Fake news: young people and social media
Groupe "Suède"
Fake news
The French Institute in collaboration with France Alumni Suède invites you to an evening of discussion about fake news.from a Swedish and a French perspective. Under the evening, French and Swedish journalists and communicators will discuss the differences between the countries and see where they stand today to encounter fake news.
We are also happy to announce the presence and an opening keynote by H.E. David Cvach, France's Ambassador to Sweden.
At this point, we all have heard about the term “fake news” but what is fake news? And how do we recognize it? And more importantly, how do we respond to it?
This worldwide spread phenomenon is changing the face of journalism and digital media. It is shifting the way we obtain information, and even more so for the younger generations that obtain most of their information from social media. But who has the responsibility that the citizens, specifically the younger ones, are well informed?
The conversation between Matilda Molander (SWE), political editor at Vestmanlands Läns Tidning (VLT) and Gaël Branchereau (FR), reporter and director AFP Nordic, will be moderated by Gabriella Thinsz, head of content at Utbildningsradion(UR). In addition, Fredrik Brounéus, researcher & press officer at Vetenskap & allmänhet will be with us to present their project "Nyhetsvärderaren", a teaching tool for source criticism developed by researchers, teachers and students.
The event is free of charge but registration is needed:
