To promote the place of women in research and technology in France, the Irène Joliot-Curie Prize was created for 2018. In collaboration with Airbus and the Academy of Science and Technologies, the Ministry in charge of higher education just published the announcement of the Award and determined the prize. Registrations close on June 15.
The Prize is also open to non-French female researchers and can be awarded regardless of nationality. The Irène Joliot-Curie Prize honours women boasting both excellence and energy in inspiring careers and history.
The Irène Joliot-Curie Prize bears the name of a famous French researcher and is awarded in three categories:
- Female scientist of the year honours any woman who made a remarkable contribution in the public research field through the significance, and national and international recognition of her work;
- The Young Female Scientific category spotlights and supports a young woman considered as a specialist in her field thanks to her career and work;
- The Women, Research and Companies category awards a female scientist who developed useful innovations for society by working in a company or participated in the creation of a company.
The Irène Joliot-Curie Prize awards a €70,000 prize divided in the three categories.
