The COP21 conference will be held in Paris in December 2015

In December 2015, the 21st world conference on climate issues will be held in Paris. During ten days, about 500,000 decision-makers, representatives of States or civil society players will gather to debate on environmental issues. The stake of this international event: to define the main commitments for 2020, date on which the Kyoto Protocol will expire.

A meeting prepared in advance

Prior to the event, a scheme will be put in place throughout 2015. It aims at gaining the support of civil society regarding climate issues and starts a debate about these topics by promoting innovative projects. In order to do so, a web platform will present an exclusive information spectrum about climate change issues and solutions. Several debates and conferences will be held to allow the participants of COP21 to prepare the event. In December 2015, an exhibition-forum will be held at the Grand Palais in parallel to the summit, open to the general public.

France has long been engaged in the fight for climate

Holding COP21 in Paris matches France's persistent commitment to address environmental issues. The country has implemented an eco-friendly energy policy: France is one of the smallest emitters of greenhouse gases among all industrialised countries. The country pushes the European Union to define ambitious goals and helps developing countries to face climate change.
